Zarbouch is a collaborative project inspired by the fusion of the Moroccan Zarbiya (rug) and Tarbouch (hat). Working with two fashion students from France, we reimagined the traditional rug close to my personal heritage into a modern tarbouch, blending raw wool with delicate French lace and couture buttons.
I led the art direction and photography, creating visuals that explore the meeting point of tradition and modernity. This project honors Moroccan culture while reinterpreting it as a living, evolving identity through fashion and design.
Crossing worlds, carrying legacy.
From sitting on it to wearing it
.
Like the cactus, we carry strength in softness — culture that survives, thrives, and grows wild.
Crowned by heritage, holding its echo.
Dragging memory into the present
.
She wears what raised her.
Heritage grows everywhere even on thorns .
What once lay beneath us now wraps around us heritage worn with pride, stitched with memory, reimagined through fashion.
From thread to crown .
Where roots meet the street.
